A Legendary Day

Last Saturday is a day that could only be described by the catch phrase of (or I should say one of the many catch phrases of) Barney Stinson (How I Met Your Mother, if you don't watch you should).
My mom wanted me to get senior pictures done so that she could send them in my graduation announcements. And no offense to Beki because I love her work and tell anyone I know who is getting married that I know a fantastic photographer, but I just didn't feel like professional pictures were in the budget right now.

So the day started out with my friend Bethy and I borrowed a nice camera and went to take pictures. We went a little train station in Clairmont that was wonderful and beautiful. We took tons and had a lot of fun. What made this legendary was that we parked in a place that we don't think we were supposed to park in and could have been fined or towed...and then while taking pictures down on the train tracks, some guy rode by on his bike and was like "I want a copy of that, but if the metro cops catch you, you'll get a ticket." We weren't caught and didn't get any tickets. When we were done we got back in the car and just as we were about to turn towards the freeway we saw a storm trooper walking around. Seriously how often does that happen?!? I started yelling for Bethy to pull over because I just had to have my picture taken with him! I succeeded in this goal which was awesome!

After that we got back in the car and headed to school. We were hoping to make it there before the cafe closed. While on the freeway we heard (and Bethy saw) a huge multi-car pile up going the other way. This wasn't good but it doesn't happen every day.

We made it back to school before the cafe closed and noticed that the always-broken fountain which James fixed the night before was still running. Some people claim it has worked for a maximum of 5 days although I swear that it has worked for only a couple hours every time they decide to attempt to fix it (which is about once a school year). Therefore since it was working for a total of about 12 hours it was amazing.

After that I just bummed around. I should have been doing work but I didn't. I can't say it was the best afternoon of all time or even legendary at all but it wasn't horrible. I got to have a heart-to-heart with Ruby which doesn't get to happen all too often so that was nice.

Then that evening a few of the guys on campus started a cover band and had a concert. It was pretty cool. It was fun because we knew all the songs and the
guys in the band. They may not be the best musicians but they are talented and had fun. They played about 15 songs, some Jack Johnson Jason Maraz The Frey, some Johnny Cash, and even had violins for Viva La Vida. It turned out a lot better than i thought it would be.

After the concert, we went to cheer the boys basketball team on. It was fun; its always fun. They didn't do as well as the game before, but oh well.

Overall it was just a great day followed up by another great day because I got to go home. :-D I love home. There was nothing learned that was profound but I had a good, relaxing day.

Also. Since I'm graduating I'm supposed to be looking for jobs. I have found one possibility, have my normal summer job lines up just in case, and might be going to a few job fairs in the next few weeks, but I have another idea. Its not something that most people would do after college since its not really a 'carrer job' but its what I'm very interested in despite what a lot of people think (my sister and mom seem supportive which is why I love them and I know my dad and brother would be too). What is this job? I want to work on the Disney Cruise Line as a Youth counselor. I've looked into it a little bit. Its just an idea I'm bouncing around but I can't get it out of my head. Tonight I found out a girl I know has a friend who works at Disneyland as a character and is going to work on the cruise from July-October as an entertainer. I might get in contact with her which will be nice. She might have some answers to a few of my questions! :-D

Okay I'm out. I should have been sleeping but I wasn't tired and didn't feel like researching for the 20-25 page paper I have due in 2.5 weeks! Yikes!

Spring Break 09

Well I'm back at school and trying to get back in the swing of things. I really feel like I have a lot to do before I graduate and very little time to get it all done. So much for living up m last two months of college! But I'm sure everyone is more interested in my break...
The trip to Arizona was interesting to say the least. It was nothing how I expected it to be. Monday morning we did a 5 mile hike and were able to see all of Phoenix and the surrounding area. Its awesome, trying but fun. Sadly I was the last one up and Jeni had to wait for me because I have a hard time breathing when I hike. I just don't get it; it wasn't that strenuous, but that's a different story. The view was awesome and we got some great group pictures. Tuesday and Wednesday we painted a house and toured Tempe and downtown Phoenix via the new trolly/train/above ground train system (whatever you want to call it). Thursday we went to the grand canyon. This was my third time going there. The first time was when I was 10 or 11, then again when I was 14. It was fun though because some people had never been there. Becky had always wanted to go, never thought she actually would, but finally did! I have some postcards for my roommates that I still haven't given them... :-/ I should do that. It was cold at the Grand Canyon, there was even some snow! I think my favorite part of the day besides the fun and weird conversations we had in the suburban that day was the fact that we stopped in Williams.

My all time favorite Arizona town. Its kinda like the town in Cars BUT its REAL! We've stopped there every time we've gone to the Canyon. The first time we weren't planning on stopping there but we ended up staying the night there and had so much fun at the 50's style, Route 66 themed ice cream parlor. We weren't there for long but I was glad to see it.
Friday we made and handed out burritos to the homeless and passed out water at First Friday Art Walk in downtown Phoenix. Overall this trip had its ups and downs but was pretty awesome. I built better friendships, that so far seem to have lasted. At least we have a bond that other people won't get. And its made me realize I need to question what I'm passionate about. Not like I have bad passions but more like I'm unsure what I'm passionate about. Everyone there was so passionate about the work they're doing, which makes them love their jobs, and I think that would help me figure out where I'm supposed to go in my life.
Here are a few more pictures of the trip:

Beauty

I have to make this short because I have to go to bed. If I was to sleep now I'd have about 5 hours till I need to wake up, jump in the car and head to Phoenix for the week. I'm going with 6 other PCC students and our RA for a mission trip. I'm a little bit nervous because it seems very different then the mission trips I've been on but it should be good. The not all of the group of people going are the people I usually hang out with, but I get along with them all, and there's a few I'm excited to get to know better. Everyone who is going is a lot of fun, so that's good. Five of us already went to San Diego for the day yesterday since school got out for break last Wednesday. That was a lot of fun. Even though its the "big" city that I was raised close to, I love going there with different people and seeing the sites. I love playing tour guide and seeing the beauty that city holds. I'm always awe-struck by it, especially when I can see the sunset colored sky on a skyscraper while coming back from Coronado.

The beauty of a gorgeous sunset and of the snow capped mountains of southern California have really caught my attention the last couple of weeks. I am continuously amazed by the beauty God has placed on this earth. I wish that I took time to appreciate it all the time. I realize the sights I see all the time I tend to ignore sometimes, except the mountains. They always make me stop and look for a while. They are just so beautiful when they're snow capped and yet its like 70-80 degrees where I am standing. My sister has said that the times she feels closest to God is when she is surrounded by nature and can see the work of His hands. I think she's on to something there...what I wouldn't give to have seen Him put it all together.

That's another thing I'm excited about for my mission trip, the sights of the desert. Although deserts are often thought to be barren, dry, and sometimes wastelands I have seen some of the most beautiful sights in Arizona. The brightest basketball moon ever (full moon), stars, the rock formations, and of course the Grand Canyon. We are going hiking so I can't wait to see those sights and of course Sedona and Flagstaff (I've been to Flagstaff, it's pretty; I'm not sure if I've been to Sedona or not though).

Okay off to bed so that I can start that new adventure!!!
